Case Study: Meadow & Tree Installation with Custom Water Feature
Service: Large-Scale Landscape Design & Installation
Goal: Transform an expansive property into a cohesive natural landscape with a meadow, specimen trees, and a signature water feature
Our design software allows clients to see their future landscape in a variety of conditions and stages of growth.
The property had ample open space but lacked definition and character. The homeowners envisioned a design that would bring structure and seasonal beauty while still feeling natural and low-maintenance. They wanted a space that blended ecological planting with artistry — something that would mature gracefully, encourage pollinators, and offer areas for quiet reflection.
The Design Approach
The design centered on a two-phase plan to accommodate the scale of the property and allow for thoughtful establishment of plantings.
Phase 1: Installation of a sweeping native-inspired meadow with ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and pollinator-friendly species. This created immediate ecological value and softened the open space with dynamic texture and seasonal waves of color.
Phase 2: Planting of a diverse selection of specimen and shade trees, chosen for year-round interest, habitat benefits, and long-term canopy structure.
At the heart of the design is a custom rock water feature, carefully placed as both a visual anchor and a sensory element. The water feature blends natural stone with flowing movement, offering a focal point that invites relaxation and complements the overall design.
The Result
The completed landscape is a harmonious blend of wild and refined. The meadow moves with the seasons — buzzing with life in summer, glowing with seedheads in fall, and providing quiet structure in winter. The newly planted trees promise decades of growth and beauty, while the water feature adds a grounding focal point that ties the design together.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful design and phased installation can transform a blank canvas into a living, breathing landscape — one that grows richer year after year.
